สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงบูดาเปสต์ ร่วมพิธีเปิดการแข่งขันมวยไทยที่ประเทศฮังการี

เมื่อวันที่ 9 ตุลาคม 2553  นายพฤทธิพงษ์ ปุณฑริโกบล อุปทูตฯ รักษาการ ได้เข้าร่วมพิธีเปิดการแข่งขันมวยไทย “Fight Night Hungary Muay Thai Gala” ณ สนามกีฬาในร่ม เมืองชาวโก๊ะตอเรียน (ห่างจากกรุงบูดาเปสต์ประมาณ 120 กม. ทางทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ) ตามคำเชิญของสำนักนายกเทศมนตรีของเมืองฯ และบริษัท ReGym ผู้จัดการแข่งขัน โดยในงานมีการแสดงไหว้ครูร่ายรำมวยไทยและการสาธิตศิลปะแม่ไม้มวยไทยโดยเยาวชนฮังการีก่อนการแข่งขันมวยไทยภายใต้กฎยุโรป-ไทย (ห้ามใช้ศอกใส่หน้า) จำนวน 13 คู่ โดยมีผู้เข้าชมประมาณ 1,000 คน

Fight Night Hungary เป็นการแข่งขันมวยไทยกึ่งอาชีพระดับชาติของฮังการี มีกำหนดจัดขึ้นทั้งหมด 6 สนาม ทั่วประเทศฮังการี ครั้งนี้เป็นสนามแรก โดยผู้ชนะของแต่ละรุ่นน้ำหนักจะเข้ารอบไปแข่งขันในสนามถัดไป โดยรอบชิงชนะเลิศจะจัดขึ้นที่สนามกีฬาในกรุงบูดาเปสต์ในช่วงต้นฤดูร้อนของปีหน้า ทั้งนี้ หนึ่งในรางวัลที่ผู้ชนะเลิศ  จะได้รับคือการเดินทางไปเที่ยวประเทศไทย

อนึ่ง อุปทูตฯ รักษาการ ได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างดีจากนาย Michael Eotvos รองนายกเทศมนตรีของเมืองฯ ซึ่งได้ให้การรับรองพร้อมการหารือถึงแนวทางส่งเสริมการค้าและการลงทุนระหว่างประเทศไทยกับเมืองชาวโก๊ะตอเรียน รวมทั้งนำชมสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวต่างๆ ของเมือง  นอกจากนี้  Master Gyorgy Rehak อดีตแชมป์มวยไทยชาวฮังการีและเจ้าของ ReGym ผู้จัดการแข่งขัน ยังได้แนะนำให้อุปทูตฯ รักษาการรู้จักกับบุคคลสำคัญทั้งหมดในแวดวงกีฬาป้องกันตัวของฮังการี และได้จัดให้สัมภาษณ์ทางโทรทัศน์กับช่องกีฬา Sports 1 ของฮังการี  ทั้งนี้ มวยไทยเป็นศิลปะป้องกันตัวที่ได้รับความนิยมในระดับหนึ่งของฮังการี โดยมีโรงยิมสอนมวยไทยในเมืองใหญ่ๆ ของฮังการีเกือบทุกเมือง

 

The Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest participated in the Opening of Muay Thai Competition in Hungary

On 9 October 2010, Mr. Pruthipong Poonthrigobol, Charge d’ affaires a.i. attended the opening ceremony of the “Fight Night Hungary Muay Thai Gala” at the Central Sports Auditorium in Salgótarján (about 120 km. north-east of Budapest) upon the invitation of the city’s Mayor’s Office and the organiser, ReGym Hungary. The event started off by exhibition of the Muay Thai’s “Wai Kru” dance and traditional techniques performed by Hungarian youths and followed by 13 Muay Thai matches, using Euro-Thai rules (no elbow strike to the face). The Competition was attended by around 1,000 spectators.

Fight Night Hungary is a national semi-professional Muay Thai competition, comprising of series of fights in six different locations through out Hungary. Salgótarján was the first in the series. Winners (of each weight class) progress to the next round of competitions, with the finals to be held in a sports arena in Budapest during the summer of next year. Among the prizes that the winners will receive is a free trip to Thailand.

In this connection, the Charge d’ affaires was warmly received by Mr. Michael Eotvos, Deputy Mayor of Salgótarján who treated him to a working reception to discuss about possibilities of promoting trade and investment between Thailand and Salgótarján. Mr. Eotvos also showed the various travel sites of the city. Furthermore, Master György Rehák, former Muay Thai Champion of Hungary and owner of ReGym also introduced the Charge d’ affaires to every important persons of the Hungarian martial arts community as well as arranged for a television interview with the Hungarian “Sports 1” channel. Muay Thai is one of the most popular martial arts in Hungary with many gyms offering lessons in most big Hungarian towns.
